Beaver Dam

Feature Type: Wildlife structure Trail: Pond Loop Region: Jimmy Pond Elevation: 1090′ |
Beavers built a dam in the spring of 2005 at the outlet of Jimmy Pond. Beavers build dams so that the entrance to their lodge remains under water and inaccessible to predators, such as coyotes and bear. The dam is usually strong enough for a human to walk across, though your boots may get a little wet. The beavers left Jimmy Pond in early 2007.
