Morning Fog

Posted by Timm

Sun peaking over the mountain through morning fog

In our first year of living here full time at Little Wolf Nature Preserve, we’ve been very surprised to discover that this area is enveloped in dense fog each morning, more often than not.  On some mornings, the sun won’t break through the fog until as late as noon.  We’re not sure if it’s because it was almost the wettest summer on record.  Or if it’s because we are located in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, which are famous for their mist and fog (hence the name Smoky).  Regardless, the fog adds another dimension to the beauty of the preserve.
