More Supermoon

Supermoon just clearing the mountain

More photos of the Supermoon.  Tonight is the fullest and closest moon of the year.  Here the moon has just cleared Little Wolf Mountain.  I used a tripod tonight, so the pictures are a little better than last night when I propped the camera on the car hood.

Super Moon

Supermoon climbing over the mountain

A Supermoon is the biggest, brightest moon of the year.  This occurs when the moon is full and also at its perigee—the closest point to Earth in its orbit.  The Supermoon is 14% larger and 30% brighter than the typical full moon, according to NASA.  I snapped the Supermoon just as it climbed over our mountain.
