Jimmy Pond (aka: Pond, James Pond) is a 1-acre mountain-fed pond. It remains clear much of the year because it has a nearly constant supply of fresh water from Rocky Branch and an active drain through the Chute.
Beavers have dammed the drain to produce a steady level and flow, though the beavers left the pond in 2007. The pond is full of fish (mostly largemouth bass and bluegill) year-round and has abundant marine life including hundreds of salamanders that mate in the pond in early summer.
Jimmy Pond may ice lightly in winter, but not enough to skate. There are benches around the pond and beautiful views of Little Wolf Peak and Valley Meadow.
Duck on Jimmy Pond

Ducks like to visit Jimmy Pond especially during their spring migration, though none have taken up permanent residence.

Misty Mountain

Little Wolf Peak is shrouded in fog above Jimmy Pond on a crisp spring day. One thing you will notice about springtime in Kentucky is how the foliage turns an intense, almost fluorescent green.
Jim Fishing

And here are Jim and Chuck enjoying some fishing on Jimmy Pond. You can check out more of Jim’s fishing on his Perchbugs blog.
